Tipei Li, born in 1939 in Chongqing, is an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is primarily engaged in research on cosmic ray physics and high-energy astrophysics, having achieved significant results in experimental studies and data analysis related to cosmic rays and high-energy astrophysics. He initiated and organized the development of experimental research in high-energy astrophysics in China. He proposed a statistical model for Galactic gamma-ray sources, which has gained international recognition. He established a computational formula for the search of ultra-high-energy celestial bodies, which has become a standard method in cosmic ray and high-energy astrophysics data analysis. He also developed the direct demodulation method for object reconstruction and the time-domain spectrum method for studying rapidly varying phenomena, both of which are increasingly widely applied.
