摘要/Abstract: The IceCube Neutrino Observatory is a neutrino telescope instrumenting over 1 km^3 ice with 5,160 digital optical modules at the geographical South Pole. With the large fiducial volume, IceCube can detect high-energy neutrinos up to a few PeV which help unveil the astrophysical sources in the Universe. Recently, IceCube reported evidences of observing TeV neutrino emission from astrophysical sources. In this seminar, I will discuss the recent findings from IceCube and some followup searches for high-energy neutrinos sources in the Universe.
个人简介/Biography:
Dr. Yu is a research assistant professor at the University of Utah working on the IceCube experiment. Dr. Yu co-lead the IceCube reconstruction working group and serves the IceCube speaker committee. She is also one of the representatives of early career scientists in IceCube. She did her PhD at Argonne National Lab working on the NOvA experiment. She graduated and joined IceCube in the end of 2020 and started working on low-energy atmospheric neutrino reconstruction using machine learning techniques and later applied the developed ML tools to select the DeepCore sample for oscillation analyses. She is also working on searching for astrophysical neutrinos from AGNs using the high-energy neutrino datasets with IceCube.
