题目/Title: Explore the Unknown Universe from X-ray and Cosmic Microwave Background

摘要/Abstract:
Though concordance Lambda-CDM cosmology has been a triumph since past decades, there are still significant questions remaining. To make groundbreaking discoveries, we need to develop the cutting-edge technology – specifically, Transition-edge sensor (TES) – for space mission. I will demonstrate the complexity in soft diffuse X-ray background study through my work on background spatial power spectrum analysis, and explain why we need the TES application in space mission, such as the Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor (HUBS) project, to advance the field. TES technology is also utilized in CMB experiment, such as the LiteBIRD, JAXA’s strategic L-class satellite mission aimed at searching for the evidence of cosmic inflation and primordial gravitational wave from the CMB B-mode polarization signal. I will introduce the key technologies related to TES and its applications in space mission through my work with HUBS and LiteBIRD project.
个人简介/Bibliography:
Dr. Yu Zhou is a postdoctoral fellow at KEK (High Energy Accelerator Research Organization) in Japan. She obtained the bachelor and PhD degree from Tsinghua University. From year 2015 to 2017, she was a visiting PhD student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison to acquire the experience working on cryogenic experiments and Transition-edge sensor. In 2017-2019, she worked on TES development for HUBS project in Tsinghua Cryo-lab. In 2019-2022, she is an Areospace Project Research Associate in JAXA studying astronomy and astrophysics for future space mission. Since 2022, she joined JAXA’s L-class satellite project, LiteBIRD, at KEK.
