Title: Tensor network representation of classical and quantum systems

Abstract: In this talk the speaker will explain how to represent classical and quantum systems using Tensor network. For classical systems, a numerical RG method based on tensor network representation will be introduced. This RG method fails to give the correct critical point due to the so called Corner Double Line structure of the local tensor. A recent work points out that by filtering the local entanglement the correct fixed tensor and critical point could be determined by TRG. For quantum systems, the speaker will explain how to do variational calculation using matrix product states for both finite and infinite systems. A further improvement using arbitrary single particle basis will also be discussed. If there is time, he will also talk about our recent work on dynamical correlation based on matrix product states and projected entangled pair states representation.
