Abstract:
National Synchrotron Light Source II (NSLS-II) was completed in 2014, and has been in steady operation for users since early 2015. NSLS-II is a third generation 3GeV storage ring with
ultra-low emittance. The low emittance requires a very stable electron beam orbit. The stringent orbit stability requires the orbit feedback system to be able to suppress various noises from low
frequency ground motion to high frequency mechanical vibration. We designed and implemented the NSLS-II fast orbit feedback (FOFB) system with individual eigenmode compensation by taking advantage of the parallel computation capability of field programmable gate array(FPGA) chips.
About the speaker: Yuke Tian, NSLS-II Department, Brookhaven National Laboratory, NY, USA
Dr. Tian got his BS, MS degrees from Tsinghua University, Beijing, and PhD from Stony Brook University, in New York, USA. He has worked at BNL for 16 years, and is in charge of accelerator control group for NSLS-II project.
