报告摘要/Abstract:

Neutron star mergers have been established as the primary sites for the rapid neutron capture (r-process) nucleosynthesis, a revelation confirmed by Virgo and LIGO observations in 2017. These astrophysical phenomena could generate gamma rays through the decay of radioactive isotopes produced within the neutron-rich ejecta. To elucidate the formation processes of heavy elements within such environments, it is imperative to understand the merging process. In this talk, I will delve into the results from simulations of r-process element production. I'll examine the abundance patterns in both the dynamical ejecta—material expelled during the collision of two neutron stars before the creation of a central black hole (BH)—and the wind ejecta that arises post-BH formation. Moreover, the nuclear characteristics of these heavy elements play a pivotal role in influencing the simulated abundances. I will introduce a state-of-the-art Physics-Informed Machine Learning mass model and discuss its impacts on the predicted r-process abundances under varying astrophysical scenarios.
