题目/Title: Neutrinos from the Vicinity of Supermassive Black Holes

主持人/Host: 张兵/Dr. Bing Zhang

摘要/Abstract:

IceCube reported the first evidence of high-energy astrophysical neutrinos in 2013 and has been detecting more than 100 high-energy astrophysical neutrino candidates. However, sources of these neutrinos remain largely unknown. Recently, IceCube reported radio-quiet active galactic nuclei as the sources of cosmic neutrinos. In addition, several potential association between non-jetted tidal disruption events and cosmic neutrino events are reported. In the first half of this talk, I will introduce a high-energy neutrino emission model from magnetized coronae around supermassive black holes. Our model predictions are consistent with current neutrino and gamma-ray observations. In the second half, I will discuss recent efforts to identify or constrain tidal disruption events as sources of IceCube neutrinos, using optical transient surveys and currently available data. I will also outline future prospects for identifying or constraining tidal disruption events as sources of high-energy neutrinos.

报告人简介/Biography:

Shigeo S. KIMURA is an associate professor at Frontier Research Institute for Interdisciplinary Sciences and Astronomical Institute, Tohoku University. I study high-energy astrophysical phenomena, including non-thermal processes in black hole accretion flows and active galactic nuclei, electromagnetic and neutrino radiations from gravitational wave sources, microphysics of particle acceleartion, origin of cosmic rays and astrophysical neutrinos. I also study star & planet formation, especially the dynamics of protoplanetary disks.
