摘要/Abstract:
Active Galactic Nuclei (AGNs) are one of the most powerful sources in the universe, showing emission in a wide spectra range. It is widely accepted that the emitted energy is generated by accretion around a supermassive black hole (SMBH) in the center of AGNs. However, some AGNs show a high rate of variability and unusual line profiles, which may indicate the presence of a supermassive binary black hole (SMBBH) in the center of these objects. The role of collisions of SMBHs in the evolution of active galactic nuclei and galaxies seems to be significant. Therefore, the detections and observations of close supermassive binary black holes are of special interest since they can be sources of gravitational waves. In this talk, we present our investigation of the spectral characteristics and variability of AGNs with compact (sub-pc) SMBBH systems in their center and discuss the possibility of detection of SMBBHs.
