题目/Title: X-ray View of AGN Structures

摘要/Abstract:

Active galactic nuclei (AGN) are among the most luminous objects in the universe. Their overall structure is commonly described by the unified model, which includes a supermassive black hole, an accretion disk, an X-ray emitting corona, the broad- and narrow-line regions, and an obscuring dusty torus. However, because these components span extremely small physical scales, directly resolving them remains challenging. In this talk, I will discuss our recent efforts to probe AGN structure using X-ray observations, with a particular focus on the corona and the torus.

个人简介/Biography:

Xiurui Zhao is a Postdoctoral Scholar at the California Institute of Technology. He received his PhD from Clemson University in 2021, after which he held a postdoctoral position at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian from 2021 to 2023, followed by a postdoctoral appointment at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Xiurui’s research focuses on high-energy astrophysics, particularly the physics of supermassive black holes and AGN. He is also broadly interested in extragalactic surveys and time-domain astrophysics.
