摘要/Abstract:
We present the status of the COsmic BAckground Neutrino Decay search (COBAND) experiment. The signal of the cosmic background neutrino decay is identified as a sharp cutoff at high energy end in a far-infrared region ranging from 15meV to 30meV in the energy spectrum of the photons from the space. The COBAND experiment will be done as rocket and satellite experiments in order to detect the far-infrared photons from the space. For a photon detector of the COBAND experiment, we are developing the Superconducting Tunnel Junction (STJ) detector. We will use a combination of the diffraction grating and the array of Nb/Al-STJ pixels for the rocket experiment. The present status of the COBAND experiment is reported in more detail.

个人简介/Biography:

I am Shinhong Kim, a specially appointed Professor/Professor emeritus at University of Tsukuba. I have worked on the search for cosmic background neutrino decay - COBAND experiment for 14 years since 2012. We proposed this experiment in the following paper: "Search for Radiative Decays of Cosmic Background Neutrino using Cosmic Infrared Background Energy Spectrum", S.H.Kim, K.Takemasa,Y.Takeuchi, and S.Matsuura, JPSJ 81 (2012) 024101, arXiv:1112.4568

The COBAND experiment web page is https://hep-www.px.tsukuba.ac.jp/coband/eng/index.html

In this experiment, we search for high energy cutoff in Far-Infrared- Energy spectrum (wavelength range from 40microns and 80 microns) from cosmic background neutrino radiative decay. To remove the FIR foreground from dust, a rocket experiment or a satellite experiment are necessary.  At first, COBAND experiment is planned to be done by a rocket experiment. We need a rocket available for launching and recovering their detector after the flight. JAXA rockets cannot recover the detector.
