摘要/Abstract:
TolTEC is a new camera at the Large Millimeter Telescope (LMT). It provides simultaneous, polarization-sensitive imaging at wavelengths of 1.1, 1.4 and 2.0 mm through its 7718 Lumped element Kinetic Inductance Detectors (KIDs). The full suite of data handling system for the TolTEC is developed and tested during the two commissioning campaigns in 2022 December and 2024 March-April. We report on the KIDs readout method, mapping speed estimations, optical performance, and the first scientific imaging and polarimetry findings. We conclude with scientific forecasts for the first four TolTEC Legacy Surveys and an overview of the initiatives aimed at facilitating public access to the camera and the broader LMT infrastructure, as well as synergy with data from other major facilities such as the JWST.
个人简介/Biography:
Zhiyuan Ma got his PhD in University of Missouri Columbia, with the PhD research focusing on the galaxy formation and evolution as probed by the Herschel in the far-infrared. He joined Department of Astronomy, University of Massachusetts Amherst as a postdoc on 2018 and now is a senior research fellow, working on the development of the data handling system for the TolTEC instrument and the data related infrastructure of the Large Millimeter Telescope. In the meantime, Zhiyuan’s science interest is focused on studying the star formation and the cosmic star formation history at high redshift using all observational data including those from HST, JWST, TolTEC, and many more.
