CERN高级存储工程师Dan van der Ster博士和CEPH创始人Sage Weil博士将于3月20日到访计算中心，交流云计算与存储计算。
Dr. Dan van der Ster is a storage engineer at CERN and responsible for design and operations of several petabyte-scale Ceph clusters for OpenStack, S3, and CephFS for HPC, as well as ongoing data taking for the ALICE experiment. Prior to this, Dan earned a PhD from the University of Victoria in 2008 for his work in multi-constraint grid job scheduling. He later developed a large scale testing framework to validate the 100,000-core Worldwide LHC Computing Grid for the ATLAS Experiment at CERN. Dan currently holds the academic chair on the Ceph Advisory Board.
Dr. Sage Weil is the founder and chief architect of Ceph, a distributed storage platform. Sage now works for Red Hat as the chief architect of the Ceph project.Weil earned a Bachelor of Science in computer science from Harvey Mudd College in 2000 and completed his PhD in 2007 at the University of California, Santa Cruz working with Prof. Scott Brandt on consistency protocols, data distribution (CRUSH), and the metadata manager in the Ceph distributed file system. In 2014, he won an O'Reilly Open Source Award.
