Abstract: Light-by-light (LbyL) scattering is a very rare process allowed in Quantum Electrodynamics via a loop diagram. In this talk we discuss the first direct observation of LbyL scattering established by ATLAS Collaboration using 2018 Pb+Pb dataset. Also, an updated search for Magnetic Monopoles and nuclearites using data taken with the ANTARES neutrino Telescope will be presented. Some Morocco HEP activities will also be summarized in this presentation.
About the Speaker:
Yahya Tayalati started his career as an experimental high-energy physicist with a Ph.D. degree from the University of Mohammed First, Oujda, Morocco. Later he pursued the field by involvement in the ANTARES project, a neutrino telescope residing 2.5 km under the Mediterranean Sea. He has been involved in the early preparation and deployment of the ANTARES telescope. In recent years, Tayalati has started a new collaboration with KM3NeT, which is a large research infrastructure, in construction with the technology and the knowledge acquired from its predecessor ANTARES. Yahya spent more than twenty years of his career with the ATLAS collaboration and initiated recently the involvement of Morocco in the upgrade of the ATLAS High Granularity Timing Detector HGTD. Yahya is a honorary fellow of the Islamic World Academy of Sciences and has been awarded the prestigious Mustafa Prize for his contributions that go beyond the usual physical model.
