Seminar
Title: No singular Black Holes in a complete Quantum gravity
Speaker: Prof. Alexey Koshelev (ShanghaiTech University)
Host: Prof. Jing Ren (Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS)
Time: April 8, 2025 (Tuesday), 15:00pm Beijing Time
Location: Meeting Room 319, Library Building
Abstract:
In my talk I will concentrate on the question of viable Black Hole configurations in a Quantum gravity as anticipated from our understanding of the UV completion. In particular I will explain why higher and infinite derivative operators must be present in a non-perturbative Quantum gravity and how these lead to eliminating singular Black Holes. If time permits, I will touch some preliminaries of new peculiar quasi-normal modes in such a setup.
About the speaker:
Prof. Alexey Koshelev graduated from Moscow State University in 2000 and received his Ph.D. degree in Theoretical physics from Steklov Mathematical Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences in 2003. He did postdoctoral research in the University of Crete, the Free University of Brussels, and was a PI in the University of Beira Interior in Portugal. He moved to ShanghaiTech University in early 2023 as the PI Assistant Professor leader of the newly forming Fundamental Physics Theory group.
