报告摘要:
Domain walls (DWs) are topological defects arising from spontaneous breaking of discrete symmetries. To avoid cosmological problem, DWs, if they are generated in the radiation era, should collapse before BBN. The collapsing DWs radiate gravitational waves (GWs), which has been considered as one of the main sources of GWs with particle origins. This framework has gained renewed traction as the resulting GW spectrum exhibits excellent agreement with the 2023 Pulsar Timing Array (PTA) data. While literature predominantly focuses on Z2 symmetry breaking, this presentation explores DWs from larger Abelian and non-Abelian discrete symmetries—frameworks frequently employed to address the flavor puzzle, the strong CP problem, or supersymmetry (SUSY). After reviewing the standard Z_2 DW case, we characterize DWs from general Z_N breaking. We then analyze non-Abelian DWs using octahedral (S_4) and tetrahedral (A_4) symmetries as benchmarks. CP-violating DWs arise when complex structures are included. We further discuss unique properties of SUSY and modular DWs with conventional non-SUSY scenarios.
个人简介:
Dr. Ye-Ling Zhou got BSc in Lanzhou U (2006-2010) and PhD in IHEP (2010-2015). Then, he worked in IPPP Durham and Southampton U as a postdoc before joined Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study (HIAS), UCAS in 2021. He has some representative works on proposing complementary tests of GUTs via GW and neutrino measurements, leptogenesis via phase transition, and multiple modular symmetries as origin of flavour mixing, and invited plenary talks in DSU, FLASY, Invisibles, NuPhys, SUSY, etc. He has wide interests in neutrino physics, cosmic GW background, GUTs, leptogenesis and thermal field theories.
